Adala Civics Forum

Adala Civics Forum is MUV’s civic education and community engagement programme. Adala helps Muslims in Aotearoa understand the systems that affect their lives, engage confidently in public life and contribute to conversations and decisions that shape our communities.

What Adala does

Civic Education:

Making institutions, elections, rights and public processes understandable and accessible.

Community Listening

Creating spaces where Muslims can discuss issues, experiences and priorities.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

Bringing community perspectives into constructive engagement with decision-makers and wider society.

Participation

Encouraging informed, principled and meaningful civic participation.

Table Talks & Community Engagement

Adala is developing a series of community Table Talks and engagement opportunities around the 2026 election period. The aim is to hear directly from different parts of the Muslim community, identify shared priorities, strengthen civic literacy and support informed participation. The first engagement is being organised at Masjid Al Manar. Publish the confirmed date/time and registration details only once approved.

Community Engagement Initiative

Where useful, explain the broader pathway as: listen widely → consolidate shared priorities → engage political parties/ decision-makers → publish relevant commitments/outcomes → facilitate broader community accountability and discussion. Present this as an evolving initiative rather than implying outcomes have already occurred.
